Heavily impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Vietnam Railways Corporation (VNR) has made great efforts to reduce losses by actively targeting cargo transport instead of just passenger transport.
Last year, Vietjet configured some of its passenger aircraft for freight transportation purpose while applying new operational methods to strengthen its cargo service capacity.
Viet Nam’s seaports are expected to handle more than 200 million tonnes of cargo by 2020, equivalent to 19.5 million tonnes TEUs (20-foot equivalent units) of freight containers, according to Transport Development and Strategy Institute.
One of the prominent economic happenings globally in recent times is the
appreciation of the US dollar, which has affected most countries
including Viet Nam.
